Craft House
Craft House is a two-story contemporary waterfront residence built for a private client in St. Petersburg, Florida. The design is organized around a bold material palette that gives the project its name: split-face travertine stone, dark walnut millwork, white stucco, and black steel — each material applied with precision and allowed to read on its own terms. The front facade is anchored by a two-story glazed entry volume clad in warm split-face stone, flanked by a low garage wing with full-panel walnut doors, and set behind a clean concrete motor court.
The interior is announced by a floating stair of walnut treads and black steel stringers with cable rail — set against a continuous travertine mosaic feature wall that rises the full height of the home. The ground floor opens through floor-to-ceiling black-framed glazing to a covered rear loggia and pool terrace, with waterway views beyond. The rear elevation steps back at the upper floor to create a shaded outdoor terrace with cable guardrail, extending the living area skyward while maintaining the home’s clean horizontal datum.
Built and completed in St. Petersburg, Craft House demonstrates the firm’s approach to contemporary residential design: a rigorous material logic, spatial sequences that reward movement through the home, and an indoor-outdoor relationship calibrated to Florida’s waterfront lifestyle.
