Hotel Flor
Hotel Flor is the adaptive renovation of a landmark historic building in the heart of downtown Tampa, restored as a Tapestry Collection by Hilton hotel. The project balances meticulous preservation of the building's original ornate plasterwork — coffered ceilings with intricate rosettes, decorative friezes, and arched openings — with a bold new interior identity defined by dramatic custom carpet patterns, modern ring chandeliers, and a curated palette of black, gold, and warm neutrals.
The public spaces make the greatest architectural statement. The grand lobby rises through a double-height volume, its restored coffered ceiling anchored by a striking spherical pendant of exposed-bulb rings. A symmetrical split staircase descends through an arched entry, its marble treads dressed in an assertive geometric runner flanked by black iron railings with gold leaf floral accents — a detail that rewards close inspection.
The ballroom and event spaces continue the project's commitment to layered richness: custom flooring patterns shift in scale and palette between rooms, while brass octagonal wall sconces and clustered ring pendants echo the geometry of the historic ceilings above. Guest rooms offer a quieter counterpoint — dark upholstered headboards, integrated lighting, and wide windows framing views across the Tampa skyline.
