Westmont Apartments
Westmont Apartments is a large-scale multifamily development at the corner of Columbia Pike and Columbia Place in Arlington, Virginia — a gateway site that called for a building with genuine civic presence. The exterior draws on traditional East Coast urban residential typologies: warm brick cladding banded with cast stone, a rhythm of punched windows, and ground-floor retail arcades that activate the sidewalk and anchor the building to its neighborhood context.
The amenity program sets the project apart from conventional market-rate housing. A landscaped interior courtyard forms the heart of the residential community, ringed by balconies and outfitted with hammock stands, an outdoor kitchen, and flexible lawn areas for gathering. Inside, a curated suite of resident spaces includes a co-working lounge with a glass-walled conference room and phone nooks, a full entertainment lounge with fireplace and custom geometric screen divider, and a social kitchen finished in marble and brass with bar seating for casual entertaining.
The game room and fitness facilities round out a program designed for the way people actually live today — a mix of remote work, social connection, and leisure that reduces reliance on private square footage in favor of richly outfitted shared space. Throughout the interiors, a warm neutral palette of blonde oak, stone, and brass is accented with navy and charcoal, giving each amenity space a distinct identity while reading as a coherent whole.
