Berkeley Preparatory School Chapel

Berkeley Preparatory School Chapel is a new-construction chapel for Berkeley Preparatory School in Tampa, Florida, completed in April 2023. Designed in a Mediterranean Revival style, the exterior features smooth stucco walls, clay tile roofing, arched windows, and a prominent multi-tiered bell tower that creates a focal anchor for the campus layout.

The main facade is framed by symmetry and classical detail, with a central portico supported by white columns leading to solid wood double doors. Above the entrance, a large circular rose window pierces the tower facade, punctuated higher up by arched openings that house the chapel's bell beneath a bracketed roof.

Inside, the light-filled sanctuary showcases vaulted timber ceiling beams painted in a vibrant blue accent color, contrasting warm wood pews and polished stone tile flooring. The $3.6 million building, constructed by Creative Contractors, blends traditional sacral motifs with the functional demands of a modern school campus.

The chapel was recognized for outstanding design in American School & University's 2023 Architectural Portfolio, in the Combined-Level Schools category.
